In the heart of the Champagne Valley , Central Drakensberg, this famous choir school nestles below towering peaks.
The school was founded by the Tungay family in 1973 and has been under the governorship of a trust since 1981. Young boys from the ages of 7 to 14 reside and are trained in music and singing. Prospective scholars audition and require strong academic and musical skills. Most of each day is taken up with choir practise. They enjoy worldwide recognition as arguably the best boy’s choir in the world. Each year the choir travels overseas on an extended tour . Singing tours are also undertaken in South Africa .
The choir performs on Wednesday afternoons at 15.30 at the school - -excepting during holidays and times of tours. A festival of Christmas music is held early in December and another festival takes place in winter .
