Largest Guitar Ensemble

The Guinness Book of Records™ attempt to hold the largest Guitar Ensemble , proposed 2010, will take place on The Promontory ( the island at Wilson’s Wharf) from 12.30 pm till 5pm and promises to be an afternoon to remember. With a small registration fee of only R20 per guitarist, and proceeds going towards the Daily News Milk Fund and Shepherds Keep, information and registration detail can be found on www.zacks.co.za.’, Durban is promised a heap of fun for the young and the not so young; if you can play a guitar (and the conditional ‘Smoke on the water’ tune) you are eligible for entry!

‘The current record stands at 1802 guitarists,’ says John Humphreys one of the event co-ordinators. (This ensemble which played ‘Smoke on the Water’ simultaneously, was set on 26 June 2007 in Leinfelden – Echtdingen, Germany and was led by a band called ‘Party Blues in Bb’.)
